I do hope that you and your families are keeping safe and well as we continue to endure the current Level 5 Covid restrictions.
Normally at this time of year the Society would be circulating the programme of events for the coming year. This year things are a little different, however while we may not yet have the opportunity to meet in person, the Officers and Council Members realising the importance of staying connected with members are delighted to announce that a number of online talks have been arranged for the coming months.
These talks will be facilitated online via ZOOM.

In addition, I would be delighted to hear at president@kildarearchsoc.ie from any members who would like to contribute any additional talks to the series, as we welcome all contributions.
As mentioned previously the safety and wellbeing of our members is of utmost importance, so we, the Officers and Council Members will continue to review the 2021 programme in line with the Government and HSE guidelines. Therefore the initial 2021 CKAS programme will take a virtual form and as soon as it is safe and practical to resume an “in person” programme we will do so.
The work of the Society continues as we look forward to later in the year when all going well our Journal will be launched. Normally the Journal would be formally launched at a dinner together with the awarding of the Lord Walter Medal, however, given the current circumstances no decision can yet be made as how both of these important events will be marked, but as arrangements are advanced I will update you all.
With regard to the Lord Walter Prize, the Adjudication Panel headed by Professor Marian Lyons reviewed and evaluated the nine submissions. Professor Lyons advised that the submissions were of a very high standard, which made the deliberation and discussion around the selection of an outright winner very challenging. But a key part of the life blood of the Society is the Journal and it does bode well that essay entries continue to be of such a standard.
In order to help the Society with its ongoing work, which includes the production of the Journal, your continued support in the form of the annual membership subscription is needed and much appreciated. Given the current circumstances when in-person contact is minimal, having current contact details is vital to allow us to stay in touch and continue to deliver CKAS activities. Therefore we kindly request members (including Life Members) to return a membership form with all details completed, especially an email address.
