On Friday 13th March 2020 the Co Kildare Archaelogical Society cancelled all events and talks for the foreseeable future (see here) in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
With Ireland on lockdown, many historical societies did the same. But, what to do? Many people wanted to continue, in some form, lectures and talks on various aspects of Irish History, all the while observing social distancing and quarantine where applicable.
Modern technology to the rescue! A group of history enthusiasts have formed ‘Trasna na Tíre’ which plans to bring an online lecture directly to you in your own home!
These lectures will also be recorded, and uploaded to their website so you may view them at your own leisure.
Where is this wonderful resource I hear you cry! Get you to www.www.trasnanatire.ie and all will be made clear.
The list of upcoming virtual events are published on the group’s FaceBook page, www.facebook.com/pg/trasnanatire/events, so you have no excuse to miss out on these fascinating talks.
The recorded lectures will be uploaded to the Trasna na Tíre YouTube channel – subscribe now!
