This year’s Annual Seminar is on the 28 August in the Wood Quay Centre – that building is on the Liffey side of Christ Church. The seminar is free to attend and registration is through Lillian Butler at the NRA. This year’s seminar should prove most interesting, as it is a review of the knowledge we have learned over the past 15 years or so – by leading experts in the various periods of our prehistory and history.
There will also be launch of the proceedings of last year’s seminar and a display of graphics/illustrations from various excavations undertaken on road schemes. Many of the artist’s that created the illustrations will be in attendance to explain their works to attendees and to go through the thought process/ideas that went into the making of the drawings. I have attached 2 such illustrations – one of the Mesolithic fish basket recovered on the M3 in Meath at Clowanstown and the other of an early medieval ladle that we got in a field opposite Jack White’s pub on the N11 in Wicklow.
